Price-Wizard Shopping News:
Christmas Cheer for Tesco as Sales SoarIn the run-up to Christmas a record-breaking 1.3 million shoppers ordered groceries and presents from Tesco.com, an increase of roughly 30% over last year. The figures provide plenty of evidence that, while some traditional retailers may have seen a slow-down, Internet sales, for Tesco at least, are bouyant.
Tesco, which is the UK's largest supermarket chain, also reported strong sales from Tesco Direct, its recently launched home-shopping catalogue service with a range of close to 8,000 non-food products, and which is intended to directly compete with Argos.
As per many other online retailers, now in post-Christmas Day price-slashing mode, Tesco will also be looking to capture even more festive cheer as it launches its "January Price Blitz," which begins today, December 26th.
